The Joshua Tree Retreat Center is the home of Edwin Dingle’s vision for The Institute of MentalPhysics, City of Joy, where his founding belief of inclusive yet autonomous paths to personal truth and wellness, is celebrated and honored. Booking a personal retreat with us is an act of gifting yourself with time and space to reflect, renew and recharge over the course of two days or more. Personal retreats are ideal for guests looking for a quiet and serene environment to finish a work in progress or begin a new project or chapter in their spiritual journey.

Our 140-acre desert campus offers serene walking paths and vortex energy locations to explore, an exercise pool and hot tub for relaxation as well as a spiritual book and gift store to find inspiration. Wellness classes are steeped in the practices of yoga, meditation, and breathwork.  Nourish your body at our Food for Thought Café open Thursday to Sunday from 7am to 3pm.

Bring a special friend or enjoy some time on your own in one of our Lloyd Wright designed rooms.

Things to know about a personal retreat:

  1. We are not a resort – we are a nonprofit spiritual organization with a campus built in the mid 1940’s for students of Mentalphysics to retreat from the city. The simple accommodations then and now reflect a place to connect on a deep level with spiritual teachings and the beauty of the desert. For this reason, please note there are no televisions in our rooms.
  2. Folks are drawn to the desert and to JTRC for a variety of reasons. If you would like to share your reasons for coming to the desert and choosing to stay at the retreat center, we can help curate your stay.
  3. There are times when there is a lot happening on the campus and there are times only a few people are staying on site. This does not affect our class schedule or café hours.
  4. Weather in the desert is unpredictable and can affect your experience. The forecast might indicate rain, yet the day turns out sunny – and the reverse can happen. Keeping this in mind, bring the right shoes and clothing for the time of year you are joining us.
  5. We are located on highway 62 which once was a quiet highway, but now with the popularity of this area we do have some highway noise. Depending on wind and weather conditions the noise can sound far away or closer. Regardless of the proximity to the highway you can still feel and experience the magic of the desert here.
